The 11th MEET IN BEIJING Arts Festival (MIT) , organized by Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China, State Administration of Radio Film and Television, People's Government of Beijing Municipality, presented by China Arts and Entertainment Group, and Beijing Municial Bureau of Culture, won a huge success in Beijing during this spring of 2011.Up to 69 art groups from more than 20 countries throughout the world have participated the festival. 2000 Chinese and foreign artists presented up to 50 indoor performances in 6 theaters, 100 outdoor performances in 7 parks and squares, attracting more than 350,000 audiences. Strawberry Music Festival, Chaoyang Pop Music Week, and Intro 2011 Electronic Music Festival are among the 6 major outdoor music festivals this May, attracted nearly 200,000 audiences, 70% of whom were young white collars aged between 22 and 30. CCTV video-taped three programs including the Opening Ceremony “A Night at the Opera-with Opera Australia and Peking Opera Stars”, which attracted tens of millions of television audiences.
Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, State Councilor Liu Yandong, Minister of Culture Cai Wu, Vice Minister of Culture Zhao Shaohua, and other senior officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, State Administration of Radio Film and Television, Beijing Municipal Government and celebrities from all social circles attended the Opening and Closing Ceremony of MIB, as well as other grand performances. Both the Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Chinese Minister of Culture Cai Wu wrote congratulation meesages for MIB Festival.
The 11th MEET IN BEIJING Arts Festival was successfully closed on May 27, 2011.
